Last Sunday

My fellow photography lovers and I were supposed to go out to a grove up on the hill to take some photos. Sadly, it turned out to be rainy that day so there had to be a change of plans. We ended up getting together at an old Western house where a Canadian missionary used to reside back in 1904. The house was brought over from its original place in town and reassembled there about 20 years ago, apparently.

Anyway, I wasn't very interested in the building at first because I thought it was just an old Western house, and it really was just an old house. But actually the crappy weather made it look better. The misty rain and the dim light filled us with gloom but also sort of gained pathos. It would have been much more depressing(and maybe better) if there had been only a few people in there without talking to each other much.

I was feeling miserable because I got soaking wet on the way to get there, but I had fun trying out my new Konica and taking photos of my friends. Some of them took photos of me as well and I look listless in the photos. Well done capturing how I was feeling, my friends.

Natura

I think I want to buy a new camera, Natura Classica when I get that special cash benefit from the Government in May. But I haven't made up my mind yet. Maybe I should use it for a better purpose, like donating or something. I don't know if the 2 trillion cash giveaway from the government will actually stimulate the economy. The money should go to people in needs, not to people who don't really need it like me. But that's a talk for another day.

I got a new old camera from a friend and had a chance to use it for the first time last weekend. It is a heavy camera and makes me feel like I am carrying a piece of concrete around my neck. My shoulders got stiff after using it for a couple of hours. No kidding. But I like my new buddy.

A cat lady made friends with another cat lady

I heard some cats meowing outside my apartment around 9 pm last night and realized that I hadn't fed "my" cats that night yet.
Usually they are waiting just out the door and sometimes they hit their heads on the door when I opened it. Unlike everyday, they weren't there.Strange, I thought. They must be hungry and were calling me but they weren't there.

Then I found them just across the street eating something.
I walked over to them to make sure they weren't eating anything strange...because not everyone likes cats or having stray cats in their neighbor hood.
Actually they were eating some cat food off a plate.
And there was a woman standing besides them and obviously she was the one that gave the food to the cats.
I instantly knew she was a cat lady like me.

I said hi and she said hi and we started to talk.
It turned out that she lived just a block away from my apartment. She was on her way home and when she was walking past my apartment she saw a couple of cats meowing so she ran back to her house to fetch some cat food.
Why did she have cat food in her house?
Because she owns 16 cats and they all used to be strays.
I kid you not.She has 16 cats.

She and I agreed to try and have the cats that I usually feed neutered sometime when we get a chance to because it turns out they get food at her house too.

She looked like she was in late 40's or early 50's.
Very nice woman who is willing to take care of poor cats.

I asked if her family wouldn't mind at all those cats living in her house.
She said she was single now and enjoyed living with a lot of cats.

-----

I wondered how long she'd been single for or what she meant by being single, but I was too afraid to ask.
It could be that her husband past away a few years ago and her children live in other cities or something like that.
But it could be something else...

Anyway it was funny that she knew that I fed those cats all the time, though I had never seen her before.

中川状態 or being in the Nakagawa condition

Mr.Nakagawa is the former finance minister of Japan who appeared to be drunk at the Group of 7 meeting this month in Rome.

So if you are(or seem/look) too drunk to make decent conversations with anybody, you are in the Nakagawa condition.

Recently

I dropped my cell phone in the toilet by accident.
Luckily enough, it didn't completely die from the tragic accident and I managed to transfer all my friend's contact info to a new phone.Phew.

Two days after that, I dropped my Minolta on the ground.
I didn't have enough luck this time.It broke.Poop.
If it costs too much to get it repaired I might buy a new old SLR.Let's see.

One of the stray cats that I've been feeding got hit by a car.
It was a beautiful black cat.... Rest in peace, Kuro-chan.
That's a moment when I realize that I can't help all of those poor cat's lives just by giving them food from time to time.I felt powerless.

It might sound like I've been unlucky these days, but not really.
I'm okay.
I got a perm today and am happy about it.
Gotta get ready for Spring.

Lock on!
