Cat

Every time I see a cat on the street I talk to it and take a photo of it.
Yes, I talk to cats and sometimes I get stared at by people passing by.
I love cats and most cats seem to like me.

I had a dream the other night where I was in the danger of getting into a car accident.
It was so scary that I woke up in the middle of the night, when I heard something out at my veranda. It is not fun to wake up from a nightmare to a real-life terror.
To make it even more scarier, I was sleeping with only the screen door close but the window wide open and I live on the 1st floor of an apartment building. I didn't mean to welcome any bloodthirsty killers to break into my room by not locking the windows, but it was just too hot that night.

I peeped outside timidly through the curtains and found a cat looking right back at me there.
It was the same cat that I'd seen earlier that night on my way home. The cat was running away from this vicious looking huge cat and I helped it escape from the bad one.

I said hi to the unexpected visitor through the screen door and the cat just kept looking at me. I asked if she(I think it was female because of its size) wanted any food but got no answer. She just meowed to me, turned around and went off.

Next time I see her, I will tell her that it was nice of her to come say thanks to me but that she should have waited till dawn. Man I love cats.

Oh, from now on I will make it a habit to shut the windows and turn the air-conditioner on when I go to bed if it is too hot.

On a hot summer day

Apparently the rainy season hasn't officially ended yet here in Shizuoka, though there has been a lot of sunny days lately. I know there are certain things that you can only take photos of when it is raining, but I just don't like to go out on a rainy day to shoot worrying too much about protecting my camera(s) from the rain. So when the blue sky greets us in the morning with the buzz of cicadas, I just feel like going out with a couple of my cameras even though I know I will sweat like crazy. Getting sticky with my own sweat is better than getting wet with the rain, at least for me.

Last Sunday afternoon, I had lunch with a good friend at a restaurant where another good friend works for. After good food and nice chat, there came a time for photo shooting.

I ended up kidnapping her...I mean taking her to the place near my apartment. It had been one of the places where I really wanted to take photos of her at. I was grateful that she was more than willing to let me make it happen. It was a very hot day, but somehow we enjoyed being under the sun and feeling the start of summer, just like we thought we should be.

It is natural that it is hot because it is summer. Let our bodies perspire.
(It is natural that you are down because you are sad. Let yourself shed tears.)

I had a great sunday.

Black & White

The last time I was in the darkroom was more than 10 years ago.
I don't really remember how to develop films or how to make prints anymore but I do remember its distinct smell. I think I kind of miss that.

Rumor has it, there might be a rental darkroom/gallery opening up in Shizuoka city.
I'd be really excited if that actually happens.

Summer is here

Today felt like it was the real start of summer aka the end of rainy season.
I took out two of my cameras for the first time in a while and dragged a friend of mine to the middle of nowhere that I thought was a great place to take photos of.
We walked, talked, sweated a lot and maybe sunburnt a bit.
