JERO

I was watching the Academy awards the other day.
Honestly I don't really care who gets the oscar etc, but I wanted to see how much I can understand the speeches/jokes without subtitles.

Unfortunately my stupid sister plugged off the TV by accident when the show was still being recorded so I didn't get to see the whole thing, which I think is a shame.

Anyways, I found it interesting that none of the four actors who won the acting categories
is from the US of A.I remember that last year in her winning speech at the Oscar, Helen Mirren said that americans are so generous as to give such an honor to an actor from the UK like her.

It seems that in the states if you are good enough at something to be an asset to them, you are given a chance to play an active part and it doesn't matter where you are from.

I think it is great how it is in America.
(I know there is discrimination as well but still.)

Almost 30% of the MLB players are non-Americans I heard.

What about Japan?
There are many foreign sumo wreslers out here and some of them are a lot better than Japanese ones. The two strongest ones at the moment are Mongolians.
What do people in Japan think about it?
They wish they had a better wrestler than them that is Japanese.
"It is a national sports, we have to get it better on our own!"

And this is an American guy who made a CD debut in Japan recently.
He is one quarter Japanese but as you can see he is also an African descendant.
Although he looks like a hip-hop type of guy, he sings Enka, or the Japanese traditional folk music.

I am curious to see how well he could do in the Japanese music scene.
So far he is doing pretty good. I think the fact that his grandma is Japanese counts a lot.
